WHAT IS ELTROXIN-100? Eltroxin containing the active ingredient levothyroxine is considered a thyroid hormone type of medication. It is mainly used as a hormone replacement to treat hypothyroidism, a condition where the thyroid glands do not produce enough hormones on its own. Without regular hormone levels in the body it may cause slow speech, lack of energy, weight gain, hair loss, poor growth and dry or thick skin. Some people may also use it to prevent or treat goiters and congenital hypothyroidism.

HOW IS ELTROXIN-100 USED?  Eltroxin is usually taken orally once per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication should be taken on an empty stomach, usually 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to breakfast along with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient s condition and their response to the treatment. Do not discontinue the treatment without consulting a doctor as some patients may need to use the medicine for a prolonged period to replace the hormone your body cannot produce.
